Stoke gave a fabulous account of themselves on the pitch where Man U were humbled last week, against a very strong Liverpool team. The superbly marshalled and organised Stoke defence held out against the best that their multi million £ hosts could offer.
Gerrard had the ball in the net in the early minutes, but the effort was chalked off by Ref Marriner. For the remainder of the half Liverpool were restricted to long range efforts.
The second half offered much more of the same with the spirited Stoke defence taking a battering, but keeping their goal in tact.Clearing headers, interceptions, bodies on the line, and Sorensen having a commanding game in goal, although interestingly having relatively few direct saves to make.
That the Stoke fans outsang the Anfield faithful for much of the game....says it all.Stoke frustrated the home team and fans alike.
A magnificent team effort....so proud to be associated with The Mighty Potters! Goarrrn Stoke
